Several candidates have managed to raise their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Your CRS score is like the golden ticket to Canada – it’s the key factor that decides whether you will be dancing in the streets of Canada or still waiting for your invitation to the permanent residency party. A higher CRS score boosts your chances of standing out in the Express Entry pool, giving you a better shot at getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA). Improving your CRS score not only makes you more eligible but also greatly increases your chances of successfully immigrating to Canada. Explore these strategies to accumulate additional CRS points and move closer to achieving Canadian permanent residency: 1) WORK EXPERIENCE: Since Express Entry manages applications for economic immigration streams, your work experience is a key factor in calculating your Express Entry points. You can accrue experience by working remotely for foreign employers while simultaneously gaining eligible Canadian work experience. Ensure you have at least one year of Canadian work experience within the three years before submitting your Express Entry profile. - Please Note: The Express Entry system does not currently include remote work. However, IRCC has stated that working remotely from Canada for a foreign employer can be considered as foreign work experience. Please check the website beforehand. 2) THE IELTS : The IELTS score is the top method for boosting your points. A minimum score of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 is required. However, if you achieve CLB 9 across all language skills, you could earn up to 260 Express Entry points solely for your language proficiency. 3) JOB OFFER: An eligible job offer from a Canadian employer can earn you an additional 50 to 200 points, significantly increasing your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA). This valuable boost can be a game-changer, especially for candidates with otherwise competitive scores. 4) UPGRADE EDUCATION: Returning to school is a significant investment to boost your score, but it can also yield considerable benefits. A brief program, such as a one-year post-secondary certificate, can earn you substantial points. If you already hold a post-secondary degree of three years or more, it’s valued at 120 points. Enrolling in a second one-year program can add an extra 8 points solely for your education. 5) GET A PROVINCIAL NOMINATION: If you obtain a nomination from a province, you will receive an additional 600 points. However, it's important to remember that applying for a provincial nomination is typically a separate application process. 6) GET SPOUSAL POINTS: If you have a spouse or common-law partner you might be overlooking some points you could claim. There are three potential options, and it's worth exploring each of them. By having your spouse retake a language test or obtain an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for any post-secondary education they have completed. Your score can be affected by whether you have a spouse or partner accompanying you. If you choose to list them as non-accompanying, you might increase your score. If you receive permanent residence, you can still sponsor them to come to Canada later, but it will mean a period of separation. Your spouse might actually have a stronger profile as an applicant. It's a good idea to see how many points they would get if they were the main applicant, both with and without you accompanying them. 7) IMPROVE YOUR LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: Language proficiency is a key factor in Express Entry, making it one of the most impactful methods to boost your CRS score. The minimum French requirement for Canadian permanent residency is a B2 level, which corresponds to CLB level 7. Therefore, strive to achieve at least CLB level 7 in all areas—reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Achieving higher scores, particularly CLB 9 or higher, can substantially increase your points. 8) HAVE YOUR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION EVALUATED: Numerous candidates evaluate only their top degree, yet submitting assessments for several post-secondary qualifications can enhance CRS points. The majority of Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) agencies charge per application rather than per credential, meaning evaluating all qualifications at once can save both time and money. If you are applying with a partner, they can also have their international education evaluated to earn up to 10 more CRS points.
