TRUMP VICTORY

07 Nov
This is undoubtedly one of the most dramatic
comebacks in U.S. political history.
Donald Trump secured a decisive victory over
Kamala Harris, winning at least five key battleground states and performing far
better than expected in several other areas.
Four years after leaving the White House,
Donald Trump is poised to return, having won the support of millions of
Americans who gave him a second chance.
The election campaign itself will be remembered
as one for the history books: Trump withstood two assassination attempts, and
his original opponent, President Joe Biden, dropped out just months before
Election Day.
While final votes are still being tallied, the
majority of voters in key battleground states have chosen to support him, with
many citing concerns over the economy and immigration as their primary reasons.
His triumph follows a dramatic fall from grace.
After losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden, he refused to accept the results,
and his attempts to overturn the outcome in order to remain in office continue
to be scrutinized to this day.
Throughout the campaign, Trump relied on
incendiary rhetoric, making crude jokes and threatening retribution against his
political foes. It's clear why he remains such a deeply polarizing figure.
Few people took a neutral stance when it comes
to Trump. During the campaign, many expressed a wish that he would "tone
down his rhetoric," but they were ultimately able to look past it. Instead,
they focused on the question he posed at every rally: "Are you better off
now than you were two years ago?"
Voters were deeply concerned about illegal
immigration, which had reached record levels under Biden. While they didn’t
express racist views or buy into the more extreme claims like those made by
Trump and his supporters about migrants harming pets-they were adamant about
wanting much stronger border enforcement.
Although much of the inflation was driven by
external factors like the Covid-19 pandemic, many voters blamed the outgoing
administration. Those who supported Donald Trump felt the economy was much
stronger under his leadership and were frustrated by the ongoing struggle to
make ends meet.
Many people criticized the billions of dollars
being spent on supporting Ukraine, believing that money would be better spent
addressing domestic issues. "America First" was another of Trump’s
slogans that resonated deeply with voters.
They believed that voting for Kamala Harris
would simply mean more of the same as under Biden, and they were seeking
change. That’s the primary reason many of them just couldn’t bring themselves
to vote for her.
He has praised authoritarian leaders like
Vladimir Putin of Russia and Kim Jong Un of North Korea, calling them "at
the top of their game, whether you like it or not." He also suggested
silencing the press and made disturbing comments just days before the election that
he hinted he wouldn’t mind if journalists were harmed. Additionally, he’s kept
pushing conspiracy theories and baseless claims of election fraud, even though
the election ultimately ended in his favor.
The rest of the world will soon see what
"America First" truly means. From the global economic fallout of the
20% tariffs, he’s proposed on U.S. imports to his pledge to end the wars in
Ukraine and the Middle East, no matter who comes out on top-his policies are
set to have far-reaching effects.
Even voters will see how much of what he said
during the campaign was just empty rhetoric-"Trump being Trump." And
it’s important to remember that it's not only Americans who will have to face
the reality of a second Trump term; the entire world will too.
Donald Trump was unable to carry out all of his
plans during his first term. Now, with a second mandate and fewer obstacles,
America and the world will see what he’s truly capable of.
He is now set to become the first Republican in
two decades to win the popular vote and could enter office with a
Republican-controlled House and Senate backing him.
