COMPREHENSIVE FAMILY CLASS SERVICES
Family Class immigrants are individuals who are sponsored by a close relative to come to Canada. Sponsors must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are at least 18 years old. They must demonstrate their willingness and ability to provide financial assistance and support to the relative immigrating to Canada.
Family members cover a wide range of relationships, including spouse; parents; parents-in-law, children; brothers; sisters; grandparents; grandchildren; step parents; step children; foster parents; foster children; guardianship relationships; same sex and opposite sex domestic partners; and spouses.
Sponsorship applications for spouses, common-law or conjugal partners, and dependent children are prioritized. Applications involving adopted children, children to be adopted, and orphans are also given priority, as these cases typically involve minors without parental care.
Members of the family class must meet all the following requirements. They must have an eligible relative, spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner who qualifies as a sponsor. They must also provide proof of their identity, age, and relationship to the sponsor
The spouse or common-law partner is under the age of 18 and Cases of bigamy or polygamy, where either the sponsor or the spouse was married to someone else at the time of the marriage are not included in the family class.
