Beyond Basic Eligibility:-
While basic eligibility sets the foundation, realizing your Canadian dream under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) involves meeting several additional key factors. These factors encompass your work experience, education, language proficiency, financial preparedness, and more.
Work
Experience (1 Year of Professional Work):- You must
demonstrate at least one year of continuous full-time paid work experience, or
its equivalent in part-time employment, within the past decade. This experience
should align with occupations classified under National Occupational
Classification (NOC) codes O, A, or B. Alternatively, you may qualify for
Arranged Employment in Canada, a pathway that requires a full-time, permanent
job offer from a Canadian employer. The offer can be secured with or without a
Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), depending on your specific situation.
Education (Canadian or Equivalent Credential):-
Your educational background holds significance in
your FSWP journey. To bolster your eligibility, you can possess a Canadian
diploma, certificate, or credential. Alternatively, a foreign educational
credential, when coupled with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) by an
agency approved by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada), must
demonstrate equivalence to a completed Canadian secondary or post-secondary
educational credential.
Language
Proficiency (CLB 7 or Equivalent):- Proficiency
in English or French is vital. Achieving a minimum language score of CLB 7
(Canadian Language Benchmark) or its equivalent is imperative. Adequate
language skills greatly enhance your eligibility.
Settlement Funds (Financial Preparedness):- Ensuring
your financial stability upon arrival in Canada is crucial. You should have
settlement funds available to support yourself and your family for a period of
six months after your arrival in Canada. These funds contribute to a smooth
transition into Canadian life.
Other Factors (Admissibility and Residency
Intent):- Lastly, your admissibility to Canada is
paramount. It's essential to demonstrate your intent to reside outside the
province of Quebec upon approval. This underscores your commitment to your
Canadian journey.
How to Obtain an Educational Credential
Assessment (ECA)
As you embark on your journey towards Canadian
permanent residence through the Federal Skilled Worker Program, ensuring the
validity and equivalence of your foreign education credentials is of paramount
importance. To meet this requirement, an Educational Credential Assessment
(ECA) is a mandatory step for all foreign degrees, diplomas, or certificates.
Designated Organizations for ECA
The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has designated specific organizations entrusted with conducting ECAs, each with its unique processing times and associated costs. These organizations meticulously assess your educational qualifications to align them with the Canadian educational system. Here are the recognized ECA bodies:
World Education Services (WES): Link to WES ECA
Comparative Education Service – University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies: Link to University of Toronto CES
International Credential Assessment Service of Canada (ICAS): Link to ICAS ECA
International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS): Link to IQAS ECA
International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES): Link to ICES ECA
Additionally, the IRCC recognizes professional bodies for specific ECA requirements:
Medical Council of Canada (MCC): The
professional body for doctors. Link to MCC ECA
Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC): The professional body for pharmacists. Link to PEBC ECA
The Final Criteria Before Permanent Residence
While obtaining a positive ECA is a critical
step, your journey towards Canadian permanent residence includes further
criteria. Once selected from the Express Entry Pool and granted an Invitation
to Apply (ITA), candidates and their dependents must undergo medical
examinations and obtain security clearances as integral components of the
Canadian immigration application process.
