- employer-specific work permit or?

An employer-specific work permit allows you to work in Canada under certain conditions, including:
- The name of the specific employer you are permitted to work for
- The duration of your work

Before applying for an employer-specific work permit, your employer must provide you with:
- A copy of your employment contract
- One of the following:
- A copy of a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
- An offer of employment number (for LMIA-exempt workers)
- To obtain this number, your employer must use the Employer Portal.
An open work permit allows you to work for any employer in Canada, except for those that:
- Are listed as ineligible for failing to comply with conditions, or
- Regularly offer striptease, erotic dance, escort services, or erotic massages.
- You can obtain an open work permit only in certain situations.
If your work permit is about to expire or if you need to make changes, you must apply to extend it or adjust its conditions. It's advisable to apply for an extension at least 30 days before your current permit expires.
